Keith Awarded Early County Scholarship

The Development Authority of Early County is pleased to announce Casey Jo Keith of Blakely, the daughter of Billy and Lisa Keith, as the recipient of the 2024 Early County Growth Scholarship.

The scholarship, a total of $4,500 designated for the student’s higher education expenses, is made possible through an annual payment to the Development Authority by Silicon Ranch. It is designed for an Early County resident planning to return home to make a positive impact in the community after completing his or her higher education.

Casey Jo Keith plans to return home after obtaining a Bachelor of Science in nursing at Kennesaw State University.

Her long-term career goal is to serve the community by working as a registered nurse in the field of pediatric medicine, and then ultimately becoming a local nurse practitioner.

Keith contributes her passion for a career in healthcare to her mother whose footsteps she walks in as she begins her degree in the Fall. “My mother’s devotion to patients and her countless volunteer hours at our church are testimonies to a heart truly dedicated to service,” she said. “I aim to carry on a legacy of hard work and compassion for Early County.”

Overall, the future Early County nurse’s vision is to apply advanced nursing practices to enhance local healthcare facilities, ensuring better community health and preparedness.

She believes in helping provide quality healthcare to all residents: Keith stated,“ With a background in community service and a deep understanding of the local needs, I am uniquely positioned to tailor effective and sustainable healthcare solutions while applying my faith in the Lord.”

Through her community involvement and volunteerism, Keith demonstrates a strong dedication and love for Early County, which she views as a place worth investing her time, skills and education.

“I am grateful to have been raised in such a nurturing rural community,” commented Keith. “It has taught me invaluable life lessons that an urban setting could not.”

The Development Authority of Early County chooses to invest in students, such as Keith, because they believe younger generations returning to Early County will make positive contributions towards the county’s growth and prosperity.

“Through this scholarship, we aim to empower future home-grown leaders, like Casey Jo, who are devoted to creating a positive change in Early County,” Mike Newberry, Chairman for the Development Authority, said, “We believe that investing in their education is the foundation for effective community growth and development.”

Susanne Reynolds, Director, added, “As Casey Jo and all Early County graduates embark on their new journey after high school, I encourage them to gain skills and knowledge needed to make a positive impact in the community. Thank you all for your dedication to Early County and Southwest Georgia’s success.”
