STRONG LABOR FORCE 

Lower unemployment than the national rate.

As of April 2024, the unemployment rate in Early County, as well as in our 6-county area of Early, Baker, Calhoun, Clay, Miller, and Seminole counties, was 3.2%. The national average at the same time was 3.5%.

POPULATION GROWTH

Early County area is on the rise.

Population in our 8-county area (which includes Early, Henry, Houston, Baker, Calhoun, Clay, Miller, and Seminole counties) increased by 472 people from 2022 to 2023.

WORK-READY AGE GROUPS

Age demographic core is between 25 & 64.

In the latest round of annual population data (2021), 59.5% of the population of Early County fell into the age range of 25 to 64, with the largest age bracket being those ages 45-54 (comprising 16.3% of the total county population).

GOOD WAGES

Goods-producing jobs are top pay.

In 2023, goods-producing jobs topped the wages chart in Early County with an average weekly wage of $1,646. Approximately 25% of Early County's 2023 jobs fell into this category.

 

Private sector jobs accounted for 66.4% of the workforce, and government jobs were 33.5% of the workforce in 2023.

In 2023, certificate, diploma, and degree programs through the Technical College System of Georgia grew in several keys areas:

  • Electrician (up 50%)

  • Medical / Clinical Assistant (up 50%)

  • Nursing (up 43%)

  • Logistics & Supply Chain Management (up 36%)

  • Child Care Provider (up 31%)

  • Automotive Mechanics (up 10%)
