This past week applications for the Georgia FLEX Program were released to high school students in Early County.
The Development Authority of Early County, along with community partners, are leading the way and providing an avenue for Early County’s young entrepreneurs. The Georgia FLEX (Foundational Leadership and Entrepreneurship Experience) program gives high school students the opportunity to engage with the business world by developing a business, which provides a real product or service.
During the FLEX program, students are invited into professional environments and exposed to the stories of relatable entrepreneurs, creating an “on-ramp” for their own entrepreneurial path. Community partnerships can start and grow through FLEX as businesses are invited into the education system and the community rallies around student entrepreneurs.
Chris Clark, the Georgia Chamber President & CEO, stated the following about the program: “The future of our economy rests in the innovation and entrepreneurial spirit of young Georgians. Supporting FLEX is a perfect way for small business owners and community leaders to engage with students and help strengthen your own economy and future.”
If we really want Early County to prosper, we’ve got to prepare for its future, which means investing in the younger generation of upcoming business leaders. This is an avenue that has presented itself for the community to do just that.
For FLEX to operate at its fullest potential and encourage “homegrown” business ownership, it is in need of more donations from those invested in the “Future of Early County” aka “Students & Youth.”
Any amount an individual, group or business can give is very much appreciated and will be used to loan “seed” money to at least 10 student business owners and prize money for the top 3 local finalists.
Donations can be accepted online or mailed/ dropped off at the Chamber Development Authority, 214 Court Square, Blakely, GA 39823. Checks can be made payable to the Development Authority of Early County. Memo: FLEX.
All donors and sponsors will be recognized for their generosity and dedication to encouraging student entrepreneurs in our community.
