Early County is on the brink of a transformational journey, with Historic Downtown Blakely poised at the epicenter of change. The historic business district, steeped in charm and tradition, now stands as a beacon of opportunity for investors and business owners alike. With a multitude of incentives aimed at revitalizing existing buildings, the time is ripe to preserve and celebrate the rich heritage of our cherished community.
The USDA joins the cause with generous grants under the Rural Energy Assistance Program (REAP), offering 50% funding for energy-efficient upgrades for businesses throughout Early County. From doors, windows, refrigeration, HVAC systems to insulation, businesses can make significant strides towards sustainability while enjoying substantial savings on improvements.
Adding to the allure of revitalization is the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, offering enticing State Income Tax Credits for Historic Downtown Blakely. Qualifying for the DCA Rural Zone program is a straightforward process: create two new jobs or lease to someone who does, and unlock a wealth of benefits. A 25% tax credit for building purchase, a 30% tax credit for renovations, and a $2,000 per employee tax credit await those who seize this opportunity.
But beyond the financial incentives lies a deeper commitment to preserving the essence of downtown Blakely and towns like Damascus, Jakin, Arlington and Cedar Springs as well. These initiatives signify a dedication to maintaining the character and vitality of the community, ensuring that its legacy endures for generations to come.
Moreover, investing in our towns isn’t just about economics—it’s about community pride and connection. Shopping local fosters a sense of belonging and strengthens the fabric of our neighborhoods. And with many of these historic incentive programs capable of being layered, the benefits multiply, offering double or triple the incentives for those willing to invest in the heart of Early County.
Together, let us breathe new life into our community, ushering in an era of economic growth, cultural richness, and community prosperity that will resonate for generations to come.
